Monsoon likely to revive in Rajasthan from Sept 27, says IMD

JAIPUR: The meteorological department on Saturday said that monsoon is likely to continue in Rajasthan despite change in direction of wind and slight chill in the air. The department said that the monsoon is expected to revive from Sept 27 and is likely to continue till Oct 3. During this period, mild to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur and Ajmer divisions.
For the past couple of days, the mercury has taken a dip, especially during early morning hours and chilly winds are witnessed. "This is mainly because the direction of the wind has changed as we are seeing westerly winds which are bringing the nip in the air. Prior to the onset of winters, first, the minimum temperatures start dipping. Ideally, when the minimum temperatures are on or below 15 degree Celsius, we declare the onset of winters," said an officer with the Met department.
People in Jaipur woke up to a cloudy morning, however, no rainfall took place throughout the day. A minimum temperature of 25.6 degree Celsius was recorded in the morning and was followed by a maximum temperature of 34.5 degree Celsius. The Met office said that on Sunday, partially cloudy conditions will prevail, still, there is no forecast of rainfall in and around Jaipur.
In this season so far, an average rainfall of 671mm is recorded in Rajasthan, which is almost 58% higher compared to the monsoon rainfall received till Sept 21, 2023.
An officer said, "Many places in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Bharatpur divisions are likely to receive mild to moderate rainfall from Sept 27-Oct 3. However, no rainfall activity would be witnessed in western Rajasthan, including Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions."
