GURGAON: Former deputy CM Dushyant Chautala and 14 others were penalised by traffic police on Tuesday for riding two-wheelers without helmets in Faridabad.
Dushyant was riding a motorcycle without a helmet as part of a bike rally in the NIT Faridabad assembly constituency. The challans were issued against the bike owners, police said.
On August 25, Hazi Karamat Ali of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) organised a political event at Bachhu park in NIT Faridabad, which was attended by Chautala.

To welcome the former deputy CM, Chautala, JJP workers conducted a bike rally from Sohna mod to Gochi, in which around 70 people participated on 50 motorcycles. Dushyant Chautala was riding one of the bikes. Photos of the bike rally were circulated online, in which Chautala and the others are seen riding bikes without helmets.
In response to this violation, Faridabad traffic police issued 15 challans on Tuesday, each amounting to Rs 2,000, for riding two-wheelers without helmets.
The Faridabad police also released a statement explaining that in crowded areas, at red lights, and similar locations, drivers who violate traffic rules are automatically issued postal challans by its Smart City centre team.
"During a rally held in the NIT area on Aug 25, 15 postal challans were issued to two-wheeler riders without helmets," the statement said.
Traffic police appealed to organisers to ensure compliance with traffic rules in future rallies and to provide helmets to two-wheeler riders to ensure adherence to traffic regulations and maintain the image of political figures. Till July 31 this year, Faridabad traffic police issued 82,594 postal challans to two-wheeler riders without helmets.
