GHAZIABAD: A 29-year-old hospital owner has been arrested by Ghaziabad police on Monday for allegedly duping Rs 20 lakh from a gynaecologist and also blackmailing her for more money after clicking her objectionable photos.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Dr Hasin, a resident of Brave Heart society in Raj Nagar Extension. He is a physiotherapist and runs a hospital in Sahibabad.
According to Rajesh Kumar, DCP of City, the 28-year-old victim filed a complaint with Nandgram police station on Sunday, stating that the accused had cheated her out of profit sharing after investing in an ultrasound machine. In 2023, she gave Rs 20 lakh to the accused for purchasing the machine. After a few months, when she requested her share of the profits, the accused refused.
"In August 2023, Hasin called the victim to his place and he mixed some sedative pills in her cold drink to take advantage of her. Then he clicked her objectionable pictures and made some videos of her as well. On the basis of the pictures and videos, the accused demanded more money. She had given some money to him but now, once again the accused had started blackmailing her for the last one month. When she refused to give money, he threatened her that he would share her objectionable scenes on social media platforms and with her husband too. He also threatened to eliminate her," he said.
The DCP added that the police promptly registered an FIR and constituted two teams to apprehend the accused. Hasin was arrested at his residence, and during questioning, he admitted to his crime. The police have also recovered the incriminating photographs and videos from the accused's laptop.
