GHAZIABAD: A 25-year-old man was taken into custody by the
Ghaziabad police on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting and mistreating a govt doctor, nurse, and ward boy during a medical examination.
The incident occurred when the suspect was undergoing a medical checkup. During the examination, he reportedly became aggressive and started physically attacking the healthcare professionals.
The ward boy sustained minor injuries from the assault.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Ashutosh Garg, a resident of Nehru Nagar, Sihani Gate.
Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Kavi Nagar, said that the accused was caught in a drink and drive case on Monday night.
“When police checked with a breath analyser, he had consumed liquor, after which police took him to the district hospital in Sector-23, Sanjay Nagar. When the medical staff was taking his blood sample, he became aggressive and started misbehaving with the medical staff. He slapped the ward boy, tried to beat the nurse, and Dr Gaurav Parashar,” he said.
“A complaint in the matter has been made by
Puja, a staff nurse, after which an FIR was lodged in Kavi Nagar police station under the
BNS section of 121 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace),” he said.
A police source said that the accused was in his i20 car and he was going to his house after having a party with friends. During this time, the accused collided with a stationary car, after which an unknown person informed the police. Later, the accused was sent to medical examination.
