A 17-km-long Ghaziabad section of India's first regional train service is set to begin operations in July.

This sections of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project has five stations namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

The services will start with a fleet of 10 trains.

This is country’s first semi-high-speed rail transit system with trains designed for a top speed of 160kmph.

The train will cover the distance from Sahibabad to Duhai station in nearly 12 minutes.

This will be the first railway system in the country that is being opened for operation across its entire length at the maximum operational speed of 160kmph, said an official from NCRTC, which is executing the project.

PM Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate this project soon for the public.

CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the station premises for 24x7 monitoring.

The entire 82-km long corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut is expected to come into service in 2025.
