It involves widening the intervening at-grade road to a 4-lane highway, totaling approximately 50 km in length, and building tunnels spanning approximately 3 km.

The project is primarily focused on addressing the issue of wildlife casualties caused by road accidents along the existing national highway, Nation Highway NH-715 (new), which runs through the park.

The proposed elevated road would provide a safer commuting route for vehicles while ensuring the protection of the diverse wildlife species in the park, including the Indian one-horned rhinoceros.

The project involves the construction of elevated sections or bridges over crucial wildlife corridors and sensitive habitats, allowing animals to move freely underneath the road without being disturbed by traffic.

Supporters argue that the elevated road would significantly reduce the risk of accidents and casualties involving wildlife, making the transportation network safer for both commuters and animals.

The elevated road would help reduce wildlife fatalities and promote the overall conservation efforts in the Kaziranga National Park.

There will be viewing platforms on the elevated road, complete with vehicle parking and kiosks, to provide tourists with an opportunity for wildlife watching.
