Rajasthan witnessed dense fog in the morning that affected traffic on the highways. The Met office in Jaipur said that with active northerly winds, the shivering cold conditions will further aggravate across the state in the next few days.
Phalodi recorded the coldest minimum temperature in the state at 5.2 degrees Celsius on Monday.
People in Jaipur woke up to the coldest morning of the season so far with a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius. The dip in the mercury affected the footfall of morning walkers at the city parks. During early morning and late evening hours, people confined themselves to their homes. As no fog and mist was present in and around Jaipur, the air, road and rail traffic was smooth in the city. However, traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra via Bharatpur, Jaipur to Udaipur via Ajmer and Jaipur to Delhi via Behror remained chaotic due to poor visibility.
Dense fog was witnessed at Churu, Fatehpur, Sriganganagar and Bikaner districts where train movements and traffic on the highways was affected.
Phalodi was followed by Sikar where a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius was recorded, Jaisalmer 6.2, Bikaner 6.4, Sangariya and Sirohi 7.7 each, Alwar and Sriganganagar 8.2 each, Ajmer 8.8, and Barmer 9.0.
The Met office said that shivering cold conditions will aggravate in the next 24 hours and many places in western Rajasthan are likely to see fog and mist during early morning and late evening hours.
