THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOCHI/KOZHIODE: Twenty nominations, including that of Union minister
V Muraleedharan (Attingal), former ministers Thomas Isaac (Pathanamthitta) and C Raveendranath (Chalakudy), and three-time MP M K Raghavan (Kozhikode), were submitted on the second day on Saturday.
Five nominations were filed in Chalakudy, four in Kozhikode, three each in Malappuram and Pathanamthitta, two each in Attingal and Kottayam and one in Ernakulam.
Muraleedharan submitted his nomination before additional district magistrate C Premji. Students who had returned from Ukraine gave him the deposit money. He declared he has only Rs 1,000 as cash in hand and Rs 10,44,274 he had received as salary in bank as fixed deposit.
The 65-year-old declared he has a car worth Rs 12 lakh and a golden ring weighing 6gm. He has a health insurance policy of Rs 1,18,865 and a loan liability of Rs 83,437. He does not have any house, property, or land in his name. His wife has Rs 3,000 in hand as cash and Rs 20,27,136 as deposit in three accounts. She also has a fixed deposit of Rs 4,47,467.
K S Radhakrishnan, the NDA candidate in Ernakulam, submitted his nomination to collector N S K Umesh.
Raveendranath filed the nominations to returning officer Asha C Abraham. As per the affidavit, Raveendranath owns 1.195ha in Velappaya village in Thrissur and wife A K Vijayam owns 0.202ha in Ayyanthol village. The value of the land owned by Raveendranath is 1.55cr while that of his wife is Rs 45 lakh. Raveendranath has taken a pension loan of 10,10,101 which is his sole liability. His wife has a liability of Rs 34,72,605.
In Malabar, apart from Raghavan, CPM's Malappuram candidate V Vaseef submitted nomination on Saturday.
Raghavan submitted it to collector Snehil Kumar Singh. He was accompanied by M K Muneer, Kozhikode DCC President K Praveen Kumar, Muslim League general secretary M A Rasak, election committee chairman M C Mayinhaji and convener P M Niyas.
Vaseef submitted his papers to returning officer V R Vinod with Left youth organisations giving him the deposit sum. Vaseef was accompanied by senior party leaders Paloli Muhammed Kutty, E N Mohandas and M Swaraj.
Malappuram BJP candidate Abdul Salam M also submitted his nomination papers on Saturday.
