56-year-old school teacher arrested for sexual assault of class 4 girl in Nashik

NASHIK: The Wadner Khakurdi police of Nashik Rural arrested a 56-year-old teacher of a school in a village under their jurisdiction on Saturday for the sexual assault of a Std 4 girl. The police on Saturday produced the accused teacher in court, which remanded him in police custody till September 4.
The accused teacher was sexually assaulting the girl ever since she was in Std 3.API Shishirkumar Deshmukh of the Wadner Khakurdi police station said that there is a small school near a village in Malegaon taluka. The accused teacher was sexually assaulting the girl ever since she was in Std 3.
On Friday, the victim told her sister about the class teacher’s actions. Subsequently, the family came to know about it, and the matter was taken to the senior persons of the village. The villagers then contacted the school authorities and reported the matter, following which the police were called and the teacher arrested.
API Deshmukh said an FIR has been registered against the school teacher under sections 64 and 65 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant sections of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He added, “Soon after the matter reached us, we rushed to the spot and carried out the legal procedure of initially detaining the teacher and then arresting him after conducting his medical examination. The education department too took strict cognizance of the matter and got the teacher suspended.”
The case is being investigated further.
