RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh high court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha on Saturday appealed to the upcoming legal professionals to uphold the principles of Justice, Equity and Fairness and to ensure that weak and marginalised sections of society are not left out of necessary legal assistance owing to their economic, social, and other vulnerabilities.
He was addressing the concluding session of an internship programme organised by the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (CG SLSA) for law students across the state.
Chief Justice Sinha, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of CGSLSA, virtually addressed the participant law students and highlighted the importance of the legal profession. He said, “Remember, law is not just a profession, but a service to society. Always strive to uphold justice, equality, and fairness. Be compassionate, empathetic, and honest in your dealings.”
Addressing the students, the Chief Justice said, “Use your skills to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Be a problem-solver, a critical thinker, and a creative solution-finder.”
The Chief Justice also emphasised the importance of integrity, ethics, and professionalism in the life of a legal professional and expressed that “Success is not just about achieving your goals, but also about how you achieve them. Stay true to your values, and always strive to be better versions of yourselves.”
The Chief Justice appealed to the students to be active participants in society while also using their knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of those around them.
The Internship Programme commenced on August 12 and was attended by law students from different law colleges across the state. During their association with the DLSA office in their respective districts for the first 15 days, students made visits to jails, Juvenile Justice Boards, District Courts, Child Welfare Committees, etc.
Further, students also visited the High Court Legal Service Committee, Bilaspur, and subsequently the CGSLSA during the Internship Programme, where they were informed about the functioning and activities of HCLSC and SLSA. Law students from different districts benefited from the internship programme.
