NEW DELHI: Axis My India has predicted 44-51 seats for BJP, 1-4 seats for the Congress, 2-6 seats for NPP and 2-6 seats for Others in Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections.
The assembly elections for Arunachal Pradesh were conducted on April 19 alongside the voting for Lok Sabha elections. The voter turnout for the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections stood at 82.95%, according to the Election Commission of India.
The tenure of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to conclude on June 2, 2024. In the preceding assembly elections held in April 2019, the BJP emerged victorious, securing a notable majority of 41 seats. Consequently, Pema Khandu assumed office as the chief minister on May 29, 2019.
The ruling BJP had won 10 seats in the 60-member assembly unopposed. A total of 133 candidates contested in the assembly seats while 14 in the two Lok Sabha seats.
BJP’s nomination in the state includes chief minister Pema Khandu, who will be contesting from the Mukto assembly constituency. Biyuram Wahge, the Arunachal BJP chief, is slated to compete for the Pakke-Kessang seat, while deputy chief minister Chowna Mein will vie for victory from the Chowkhan assembly constituency.
Among the prominent figures fielded by Congress were former ministers Kumar Waii, Takam Pario and Tanga Byaling. The three women debutants from the party include Gollo Yapung Tana from Pakke Kessang constituency, Jermai Krong (Tezu) and Marina Kenglang who contested from Changlang North constituency.
