I want to be a child with my music: Sanjith Hegde
Sanjith Hegde has moved base from Bengaluru to Mumbai and for good reason. The singer, who has been part of Kannada, Tamil, Telugh and Hindi film industries, is looking at turning composer.
“I have always felt a sort of disconnect with the side of me that was into playback singing since I was doing a lot of it. Now that I’m making music independently and with other platforms, I’m able to finally show people what I’ve wanted to show with my art.

I’m very hungry to do that. I’m grateful that people have seen me throughout my journey but I’m really just getting started at exploring my own music,” says Sanjith.
Bringing Yakshagana to the fore’
Sanjith revisited his childhood memories for his latest, Geejaka Hakki, a song built around the principles of Yakshagana. “I have had this connection with Yakshagana as a kid and I always knew that I had to do something with it, or something around it to learn more. This is my first step at figuring out how to understand this art. I’m sure I will be doing a lot more association with Yakshagana,” he says.
‘Acting is something I’m curious about’
“I have been offered a few scripts and I’m figuring out the right one for me to continue that process. I know I have a lot to learn as an actor, but I’m definitely curious to see what’ll happen if my acting career takes off,” says Sanjith.
