PM Narendra Modi visited the robot exhibition at Science City in Ahmedabad. During his visit , he also inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

While only a few countries had participated in the summit in 2003, today 40,000 delegates and over 160 countries are attending it, PM Modi said. Further, the number of exhibitors increased from 30 in 2003 to 2000, he said.

The Prime Minister said there are several specific reasons behind the success of the summit, including core elements like idea, imagination and implementation.

Highlighting that India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, he said, "India is poised to become a global economic powerhouse. Modi guarantees India will be among the top three economies of the world.”

"Twenty years ago, we had sown the seeds. Today, it has become a vibrant tree. VGGS is not a branding exercise. It is rather a bonding exercise," PM Modi added.

PM Modi claimed that the then government used to refuse to attend summit. They used to threaten foreign investors and tried to stop them from coming to Gujarat, he said, adding that luckily, the foreign investors turned up.

PM Modi initiated the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit during his tenure as the chief minister of the state in 2003, with the aim of making Gujarat a leader on the global map of industry and trade, the government said.

PM Narendra Modi, at the event, also recalled a journey of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit spanning over 20 years. He alleged that the Centre had not extended any cooperation.
