NEW DELHI: Premium motorcycle brands are increasingly rolling out products in the modern classic segment, with the latest being the Kawasaki W800 Street. Triumph Street Twin gets a direct rival. Interestingly, both the motorcycles carry a considerable amount of their company legacy and let's find out how the two offerings fare on specifications sheet:

Features:
The Triumph Street Twin is more advanced in the hardware department, offering two riding modes, switchable traction control and an optional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The Kawasaki W800 Street is straight-forward and carries an old-world charm, missing out on riding modes. Both the motorcycles host an analogue-LCD instrument cluster, which displays necessary information, and has dual exhausts. Round headlamp set upfront, high set handlebars, and relaxed ergonomics enhance the appeal and rideability.

Engine:
The Kawasaki W800 gets a 773-cc, air-cooled, vertical twin-engine, which generates 52 PS power at 6,500 rpm and 62.9 Nm of peak torque at 4,900 rpm. The Triumph Street Twin houses a 900-cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, pumping out 65PS power at 7,500rpm and peak torque of 80Nm at 3,800rpm. Both the motorcycles get a five-speed gearbox and as the numbers suggest, the British roadster takes a lead with higher delivery outputs.
Cycle Parts:
The Kawasaki W800 Street sits on 18-inch spoked alloys while Triumph Street Twin gets 18-inch up front and 17-inch rear wheels. Suspension set up is similar in both the motorcycles with 41-mm telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. A 310-mm disc does the braking duties for both. Kawasaki makes use of a 270-mm rear disc while Triumph has a slightly smaller 220-mm disc. Standard dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) is offered as standard both the motorcycles.
