The airport’s international terminal (T2) station of the underground Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro corridor is set to feature the country’s tallest escalators.

Surpassing national record

The escalator, at 19.15 metres, will surpass the national record of 15.6 metres held by Delhi Metro’s Janakpuri-West station’s escalators.

Why so high

Depth of the CSMIA T2 station, which is one of the Metro 3 line’s deepest stations. Hence the escalator’s height. The difference (26.5 - 19.15) is because of the heights of the foundation and the platform.

The world’s highest escalators are installed in deep underground stations of the Saint Petersburg Metro. Stations: Ploshchad Lenina, Chernyshevskaya, and Admiralteyskaya (Height: 69 metres each | Length: 138 metres each)
