Reese Witherspoon has reportedly begun dating private-equity financier Oliver Haarmann, according to sources. The relationship is said to be casual, as the two were spotted together on a date in New York City on September 4, 2024. It was the second time they were seen publicly within just over a month, after previously being photographed together in late July.
The pair attended an event for Assouline, where other notable figures like tennis legend Roger Federer and fashion icon Anna Wintour were present.Haarmann, a founding partner of Searchlight Capital and a minority co-owner of the NHL's New York Islanders, was dressed in khaki pants, a light blue shirt, and a darker blazer. Witherspoon wore a short-sleeved black dress and strappy heels, holding a black coat as they walked together.
According to a source close to the situation, the two are simply friends, and their relationship is described as relaxed and casual. Another insider mentioned that Witherspoon, who is busy with work and her family, is taking her time when it comes to dating. She is reportedly focused on her career and her 11-year-old son, Tennessee, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Jim Toth.
Witherspoon and Haarmann were first spotted together in New York at the end of July, arriving via helicopter and dining at a restaurant in the West Village. At that time, sources confirmed that the relationship was just friendly. After almost 12 years of marriage, Witherspoon and Toth announced their divorce in March 2023, which was finalized by August 2023. The couple shares one son, Tennessee. Witherspoon also has two older children, Ava and Deacon, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.
