Three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Andhra Pradesh were suspended after Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani complained to the city police that they had exploited her. The suspensions come after Jethwani accused the officers of harassment, claiming they unlawfully arrested her and her family at the instigation of a film producer and political leader from the YSR Congress party.

The suspended police officers are P. Sitharama Anjaneyulu, ex-intelligence chief; Kranti Rana Tata, ex-Vijayawada Police Commissioner and Vishal Gunni, then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vijayawada). The reports state that Jethwani had worked closely with the officers before making her complaint.
As per a Hindustan Times report, Jethwani denied the charges and said that trouble started for her when a film producer and political figure K.V.R. Vidyasagar accused her of cheating. He accused her of forging documents to grab land and took money from him as extortion. The case was registered following these allegations and subsequently, Jethwani and her family were arrested by a team of the Andhra Pradesh police which went to Mumbai, where they lived.
Jethawani also claimed that she and her parents were humiliated and unlawfully detained for more than 40 days until getting out on a bail.

One of the suspended officers is also accused of misusing his authority by ordering Jethwani's arrest before a formal First Information Report (FIR) had been filed. This officer allegedly arranged travel for other officers to execute the arrest without proper legal procedures or documentation according to an Economic Times report.
The inquiry that resulted in the officers' suspensions was initiated by the Director General of Police Dwarka Tirumala Rao after Jethwani lodged a formal complaint online. She detailed the harassment she faced during an interview with Vijayawada police on August 30, 2024.

Kadambari Jethwani made her debut in the Hindi film, 'Sadda Adda'. She has also starred in multiple regional films such as Kannada movie 'Oujia', Telugu film 'Aata', Malayalam movie 'I Love Me' and Punjjabi film 'Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya'.
