NEW DELHI: The Olympic flame has been ignited in Paris, signaling the commencement of the highly anticipated Olympic Games. The opening ceremony, held on Friday, July 26, was a remarkable and unparalleled spectacle.
As the competitions begin, athletes are preparing themselves for their respective events. India's first opportunity to secure medals will be in shooting on Saturday, July 27, with the 10m air rifle mixed team event comprising both qualification and medal rounds.

Apart from shooting, Indian athletes will participate in various other sports. Several renowned and legendary Indian sportspersons will take to the different arenas in Paris, determined to set the pace for the Indian delegation at this year's Olympics.

Elavanel Valarivan, along with Sandeep Singh, Arjun Babuta, and Ramita Jindal, will strive to advance to the medal rounds and then vie for a podium finish in shooting.
The evergreen Rohan Bopanna, the most senior Indian athlete at these Olympics, will partner with N Sriram Balaji in the men's doubles first round. Bopanna and Balaji will be up against Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Fabien Reboul of France.

PR Sreejesh will be the center of attention as the Indian men's hockey team takes on New Zealand in their opening group match on Saturday. Captain Harmanpreet Singh and his teammates will aim for a strong start to their campaign.
Despite a challenging draw, Lakshya Sen has demonstrated resilience and determination in the face of adversity. On Saturday, he will face Kevin Cordon of Guatemala.
The current world No. 3 men's doubles pair, Satwik-Chirag, will begin their campaign, hoping to put their disappointing group-stage exit at the Tokyo Olympics behind them.
