For those unaware, Tambdi Surla Temple holds great historical and architectural significance. The temple is believed to have been constructed during the early 12th century, making it one of the Kadamba architectures. Its distinctive appearance is what draws one’s attention.
Due to its remote location within the dense forest, for several centuries, the Tambdi Surla Temple remained hidden from people and it stayed relatively untouched. Even though the temple was secluded for so long, the natural elements didn’t cause any major damage to the temple’s features. The intricate carvings and architectural integrity can still be seen and enjoyed to this day.
You will find Tambdi Surla village around 13 km away from Bolcornem village, near Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. It is roughly 65 km away from the capital city of Panjim. To reach Tambdi Surla, one will have to drive through narrow yet scenic village roads. The temple is located at the foot of the Anmod Ghat, a stretch of lush forest bordering Goa and Karnataka.
