The history of this world has given birth to a lot of mysteries, including some really horrible incidents that make us shudder even to this day. These incidents are believed to have been the cause of hauntings in a lot of places. India, home to some of the most mystery-laden folklore, is home to a lot of famous luxury hotels that have been infamous for hauntings by the dead.
Hotel Brij Raj Bhavan, Kota
Hotel Raj Kiran, Lonavala
Although not one among the fanciest and luxurious hotels, the paranormal activities in Lonavala’s Hotel Raj Kiran have earned it a place in the list of the most haunted hotels in the country. According to guests’ experiences, the hauntings have been reported from a room in a corner behind the reception of this hotel. As per the experiences of guests who stayed in this room, the entity living in it forcefully pulled off the bed sheets when the guests were asleep. Some guests have also reported sightings of a ray of blue light when they woke up in the middle of the night. The hotel management has stopped renting out the said room to guests now.
Hotel Fern Hill, Ooty
Built in 1844, Hotel Fern Hill is a heritage hotel in Ooty that is known for its beautiful classic British architecture. But there is one more thing that made this hotel famous. It was during the shooting of Bollywood horror film Raaz that this hotel’s hauntings came to the fore. Choreographer Saroj Khan and her crew were staying in this hotel, and they woke up in the middle of a night when she heard noises of furniture being rearranged on the floor above. She called up the reception immediately, but there was no one to take her call. Next morning, to everyone’s horror, the receptionist revealed that the hotel has no first floor at all. The hotel was even shut down for some time due the reports of paranormal activities.
Morgan House Tourist Lodge, Kalimpong
The Morgan House Tourist Lodge in Kalimpong is set within a beautiful old British house, which itself makes for a great travellers’ attraction on a hill station. The hotel was built in the 1930s and it belonged to an Englishman named George Morgan and his family. The family is believed to have stayed in this property before the untimely death of Lady Morgan, whose ghost still haunts the place as per the locals. If the rumours are to be believed, the ghost of the lady walks the halls of this establishment. A lot of guests have even heard the sound of someone walking the wooden corridors of the hotel in high-heels.
