Former President
Donald Trump reacted on Tuesday to
Taylor Swift's endorsement of Vice President
Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. When asked about Swift’s statement in the spin room—where reporters ask candidates and their surrogates questions after debates—Trump simply responded, “I have no idea,” reported US Today.
Swift, the "Tortured Poets Department" singer, made her support for Harris and Democratic vice-presidential running mate Tim Walz public in an Instagram post shared shortly after Tuesday's presidential debate.
The post, accompanied by a photo of Swift with her cat, Benjamin Button, addressed her decision to endorse Harris. Swift also used the opportunity to clarify her stance in light of AI-generated images that falsely depicted her supporting Trump.
In her post, Swift emphasized the importance of transparency, given the misinformation circulating online. "It made me realize I needed to be clear about my actual plans for the election," Swift wrote. She also took a jab at Republican Senator J.D. Vance's earlier viral comments, calling herself a "Childless Cat Lady" in the caption.
The singer's endorsement, which spans four paragraphs, urges her 283 million followers to research candidates thoroughly ahead of the 2024 election. "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight," Swift wrote. "Now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most."
This isn’t Swift’s first foray into politics. She endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election and previously supported Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for the US Senate and Jim Cooper for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District in 2018.
