Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) during his Independence Day speech in 2018.
PMJAY is a flagship
National Health Protection Scheme funded by the Government of India. It aims to give free access to health insurance coverage for low income earners in the country.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana incorporates the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) and Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) and is also known as the AB-PMJAY scheme.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme caters to the poor as well as rural families. It is economically beneficial to the poor and destitute households in rural and urban regions of the country.
PMJAY is one of the biggest healthcare schemes sponsored by the Indian Government. It is a paperless scheme and offers cashless hospitalization cover at public hospitals and network private hospitals.
The Prime Minister rolled out Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana healthcare scheme to cover more than 50 crore Indian citizens and nearly 10 crore underprivileged families without any limitations pertaining to size of the family and age.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana will help these families avail the best healthcare services with the insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for each family per year for tertiary and secondary hospitalization expenses.
How to check eligibility for PMJAY scheme?It is simple and easy to register for the Government of India's PMJAY scheme. It is applicable to all beneficiaries who are part of the RSBY scheme or are identified under the SECC 2011 list. However, if you wish to register for PMJAY online, you can follow the below given steps;
1. Visit the official government website for PMJAY scheme -
www.pmjay.gov.in2. Click onthe "Am I Eligible" tab from the menu on the homepage.
3. Enter your mobile number, CAPTCHA code, and click on Generate OTP.
4. Enter your state of residence and your name, ration card number, household number, or mobile number.
5. If your family is covered under Ayushman Bharat Yojana, then your name will appear in the results.
6. Look for your name in the appeared list.
After checking the eligibility from the list on the online portal, you should move to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana online registration process. In case you are not eligible for the PMJAY scheme, you can explore other health insurance plans available in the market.
Steps to apply for PMJAY scheme onlineFollow these easy steps to apply for PMJAY online;
Steps:- Step 1
Generate a patient verification card for the beneficiary. To generate the card, the patient is directed to the PMJAY kiosk.
- Step 2
Know about the valid charges and payments associated with the scheme.
- Step 3
Get the confirmation from the provided doctors about any prevailing sickness or diseases.
- Step 4
Get medical treatment or a medication prescription from the doctors. If hospitalisation is suggested by the doctors, avail medical facilities from hospitals under Empanelled Healthcare Providers (EHCP) network or public hospitals.
- Step 5
After the treatment is completed, get a discharge certificate and all the bills from the hospital.
