While the year 2020 came as a rude shock for Bollywood with a countrywide theatre shut down in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the new year has brought a lot of hope. Before the second surge in numbers of those infected, the film industry had started booking slots throughout the year to release their pending films. And while the impending lockdown, coupled with the weekend lockdown and night curfew, has already led to the postponement of announced films, it has made the audience already look forward to what's in store in terms of films of their favourite stars. Alia Bhatt has been busy with the shooting of her upcoming film ‘Brahmastra’ co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy. Besides, she also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, and the films ‘Darlings’ and ‘Takht’ in the offing. She will also be marking her Tollywood debut with actor Ram Charan in ‘RRR’.
Salman Khan has now pushed the release date of his much-awaited film ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. Earlier, he was seen shooting ‘Tiger 3’ starring Katrina Kaif. He is also going to be seen in a special cameo in Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in lead roles. He recently shared the first look from ‘Antim’ with Aayush Sharma, and also has ‘Kick 2’ with Jacqueline for the next year.
Deepika has seven promising films in the pipeline. She is all set to pair up with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Pathan’, and has a film with Hrithik Roshan in the offing, as announced earlier this year. Recently, she posted that she will be reuniting with Amitabh Bachchan for the Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’. She is yet to announce the title of her next venture with Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi, directed by Shakun Batra. Currently, she is waiting for the release of ‘83’ co-starring husband, Ranveer Singh.
Akshay Kumar has an interesting set of upcoming films. While he was last shooting for his film ‘Ram Setu’ in Ayodhya with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushratt Bharuccha, he already has an impressive list of films awaiting release. ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Atrangi Re.’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ will be looking at a release once the situation betters.
While the release of Kangana Ranaut's latest film ‘Thalaivi’, based on the life of actress-turned-politician Jayalalitha, has been postponed due to surge in Covid-19 cases, Kangana is filming other films. She was shooting for ‘Dhakaad’ and ‘Tejas’ earlier this year and has announced that she will be returning with ‘Manikarnika’ in ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda’, and also that she will be part of another untitled political drama where she will be essaying the role of former PM of India, Indira Gandhi.
Amitabh Bachchan is currently shooting for ‘Goodbye’ with Rashmika Mandanna. He will soon appear in the much-anticipated fantasy-adventure ‘Brahmastra’, helmed by Ayan Mukerji. The megastar has also announced his second collaboration with Deepika Padukone for the Hindi remake of Hollywood hit ‘The Intern’. He is also a part of ‘MayDay’ and ‘Chehre’, which was recently postponed.
Taapsee Pannu has been hopping from one film set to another ever since the lockdown was eased last year. She has ‘Loop Lapeta’, ‘Rashmi Rocket’, ‘Shaabash Mithu’ and ‘Haseen Dillruba’ in the kitty. She is also reuniting with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for ‘Dobaara’.
Kriti Sanon has been juggling multiple projects since last year. While she has been roped in for ‘Adipurush’ as Sita, she will be also be seen with Varun Dhawan in ‘Bhediya’ for which she is currently shooting in Arunachal Pradesh. She will also be collaborating with Akshay Kumar for ‘Bachchan Pandey’ and Tiger Shroff for ‘Ganpath’, besides pairing up with Rajkummar Rao in Dinesh Vijan’s next.
Jacqueline Fernandez will soon be resuming work for ‘Ram Setu’ alongside Akshay. The actor duo will also be sharing the frame once again in ‘Bachchan Pandey’. She has also promised ‘Kick 2’ with Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Cirkus’, helmed by Rohit Shetty. She is also a part of the action film ‘Attack’ co-starring John Abraham and Rakul Preet Singh.
Yami Gautam has her kitty full with more than five films. The gorgeous diva is all set to share screen space with Abhishek Bachchan in ‘Dasvi’. On the other hand, she has wrapped up ‘Bhoot Police’, starring Saif Ali Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Arjun Kapoor. Besides these films, she also has ‘Faraar’ by Aniruddha Roy Chowdury, ‘A Thursday’, and a yet-unannounced film.
