IRCTC has started special train services for those struck in various parts of the country and wish to come back home. On May 12, Indian Railways resumed passenger train services with strict guidelines. According to the Home Ministry’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), only asymptomatic and those with confirmed train tickets will be allowed to travel, and even enter the railway station given the pandemic situation. How to book tickets for special trains from the website?
1) Open irctc.co.in.
3) After you are logged in, you’ll have to fill the source and destination, select the journey date, class of coach and then click on Find Trains option.
4) As of now, the website will only show trains from New Delhi station to 15 destinations, which are Mumbai Central, Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Howrah, Thiruvananthapuram, Dibrugarh, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Patna, Secunderabad, Chennai, Jammu Tawi, Madgaon and Ahmedabad. Also these trains will return from those destinations.
5) Choose the train you want to book tickets for from the list, along with the class you want to travel in (only AC coaches available).
6) Click on Check Availability and fare for the journey.
7) If seats are available, you should be able to proceed to Book Ticket.
8) Click on Book Now option, fill all the required details such as name, age, gender, and berth preference.
9) You’ll be provided with an option to book tickets only if the confirmed berths are allotted.
10) Scroll down and enter your mobile number and captcha code. Then click on Continue Booking option.
11) You’ll reach the payment option page, wherein you can choose the preferred option for payment, i.e., credit card, debit card, and others.
12) After the payment is done, your ticket will be booked and you’ll get a confirmation along with your ticket on your registered phone number and email ID.
