Fort Kochi is a coastal gem in Kerala. The place has been attracting travellers with its historic charm for a long time now. A perfect blend of colonial influences, the place boasts Portuguese, Dutch, and British legacies which can be seen in its architecture, including the ancient St. Francis Church and the iconic Chinese fishing nets. Heritage Walks: A heritage walk through Fort Kochi’s narrow streets is like travelling through time. The region is a stunning amalgam of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences, which is quite evident in its architecture.
Cafes: The place is home to some incredible cafes. The entire region is dotted with pretty little cafes that offer a relaxed atmosphere, a range of delicious food, and live music. Visitors can also relish a range of delicious cuisine. The seafood here is an absolute must have!
St. Francis Church: When in Fort Kochi, you can’t miss out on visiting St. Francis Church, which was built in 1503. It is also among the oldest European churches in India and holds immense historical significance. This place is also the burial place of the famous explorer Vasco da Gama, whose remains were later moved to Lisbon.
Chinese Fishing Nets: These are iconic! Chinese fishing nets along the coast of Fort Kochi are a symbol of the region. These huge nets are operated using a unique system and looking at fishermen using these nets during sunset is a popular tourist activity in the region!

Santa Cruz Basilica: This Catholic church is another architectural gem in Fort Kochi. The basilica, built by the Portuguese in the late 19th century, features stunning interiors with beautiful paintings and a gothic-style facade.
Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace): The palace was built by the Portuguese and later renovated by the Dutch. The palace is renowned for its exquisite murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and portraits of former Rajas of Kochi.
Jew Town: Fort Kochi is also noted for being home to Jew Town, a historic Jewish settlement. The 1568 Paradesi Synagogue here is a prime tourist draw.
