When we hear the word Kenya, the first thing that comes to mind is the wildlife, followed by the vibrant culture of the Masai Mara tribe. It’s true that a majority of the tourists visit the country keeping these activities in mind. And it should be, not only because they are iconic, but also because they open doors to many other experiences.
This is after you reach Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The city is vibrant, and the people are friendly and very welcoming. When in Nairobi, explore the streets, and grab some street food when you do.
If you reach Nairobi early in the morning, you can start your day by visiting the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (visiting hours 11 AM to 12 PM). Here ,you can spend some time with the orphaned elephants and learn about their conservation efforts. Next, you can head out to the Giraffe Centre to get up close to these gentle giants.
When in Nairobi, you should also check out the local markets for traditional beaded jewelleries. End the day with a fun night out in the city.
Start early for the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive is scenic and will take around five and a half hours, and arrive at Maasai Mara by noon. It’s best to book a package, which includes stay and game drives. After lunch, you can go for the afternoon game drive (3:30 PM to 6:30 PM). This should be followed by a night of good rest.
Dedicate this full day for wildlife adventures. You can even go for the full-day game drive. This will start very early in the morning, to see wild animals in action. Animals in the wild have a mind of their own and they will go on with their day as per their wish. So, it is possible that you will spot some of the wildest moments ever or will end up spending the whole day waiting for one to happen. Both are absolutely fine and should be appreciated nonetheless. You can even sneak in a village tour. Visit the Maasai tribes and their villages on the fringes of the reserve.

The wildlife experience is unmatched and unforgettable. Your lodge may arrange a game drive for the later part of the day, as the national park is approximately five hours away from Maasai Mara.
Keep this day for sightseeing. You must visit the Baboon Cliff View Point. Here, you will find friendly baboons and a great view of the national park. Plan a day trip to Lake Naivasha as well. It’s just two hours away from Baboon Cliff.
