Lucid Motors has provided a sneak peek at its upcoming lower-cost midsize electric SUV during its Technology and Manufacturing Day. The company unveiled a teaser for the new electric crossover, part of a more affordable lineup aimed at broadening its market appeal.

CEO Peter Rawlinson revealed that Lucid plans to introduce an electric vehicle priced around $50,000. This new midsize model will target the same segment as Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y. While it was previously known that Lucid would launch a midsize electric crossover, the company disclosed to Electrek last month that three new models are actually in the pipeline.

Lucid’s upcoming midsize EV lineup: Crossover, Sedan, and potential off-road model

The new midsize platform from Lucid will feature a crossover SUV, an electric sedan, and a potential off-road model. The latest teaser highlights the electric SUV’s advanced technology and competitive range with a smaller battery.

Lucid has announced plans for a new midsize SUV, priced under $50,000 and scheduled for release in late 2026. This vehicle will be built on a cutting-edge Midsize Platform and equipped with a next-generation “Atlas” drive unit, promising enhanced value and performance.

Upcoming Lucid electric SUVs: Potential names, production timeline, and market strategy

Trademark filings suggest that the new midsize model from Lucid could be named "Earth," with other potential names including Earth Dream Edition, Cross Air, Air Cross, and Airspace. Additionally, Lucid’s first electric SUV, the Gravity, is set to launch in 2025, featuring a NACS port and entering production later this year.

As per reports, this upcoming SUV aims to compete in the growing US market for electric SUVs and crossovers, directly challenging Tesla’s Model Y. Lucid is also working on another vehicle that is expected to rival Tesla’s Model 3.

At present, Lucid’s only available model is the high-end Air. The company, which faces financial difficulties but is supported by its majority Saudi investors, has managed to increase vehicle deliveries this year, surpassing the total number delivered in all of 2023.
