AMRITSAR: New York-based secessionist Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has warned the Hindu community of Canada to leave the country and return to India while alleging that they were acting against the interests of the North American country.
Spewing venom against Indo-Canadian Hindus, general counsel of outlawed (in India) Sikh body, Sikh for Justice (SFJ) Gurpatwant Singh Pannun alleged that Indo-Hindus had unleashed a nefarious and aggressive campaign that was detrimental to Canadian interests especially after Canada suspended trade with India due to "interference in its internal affairs".

While giving a call "Leave Canada - Go To India”, he further alleged "Indo-Hindus who work against the interests of Canada have effectively repudiated their allegiance to Canada. They must go back to India, the country whose interests they protect and promote while reaping the economic benefits from Canada”.
He also claimed that Indo-Hindus living in Canada had celebrated the assassination of Khalistan Tiger Force chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was shot dead in the parking of a gurdwara in Surrey, Canada in the recent past, Pannun said, "Canada has no place for those Indo-Hindus who are siding with India in suppressing freedom of expression and in promoting violence against Pro Khalistan Sikhs".
Designated as a terrorist by Union home ministry in 2020 under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, Pannun informed that SFJ would hold Khalistan Referendum-II on October 29, 2023, in Surrey, BC, Canada and also declared to hold “Shaheed Nijjar Kill India Referendum” on the question: “Is Indian High Commissioner Verma Responsible For The Assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar?"
In the recent past, the SFJ had held an unofficial Khalistan Referendum event at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey on September 10 which saw a poor turnout from the Sikh community.
