Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Naming three people, including a sub-inspector, a 23-year-old man ended his life in Hingoli’s Panknaregaon.
In the suicide note — which was sent in the form of a detailed WhatsApp message to his relatives and friends — the deceased man, Akash Deshmukh, named a sub-inspector serving with the Vadodbazaar police station of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
He accused the policeman of assaulting him and his female friend and even forcing her to give a statement against him in a case that was registered some time ago.
Hingoli SP Shrikrishna Kokate told TOI, “The youth had reportedly sent a message to some of his contacts, in which he blamed some people, including a sub-inspector. Relatives of the deceased man went to lodge a complaint.”
Akash, originally from Pankanergaon, had been staying in Vadodbazaar. He came in contact with a young woman, and a while back, an FIR was registered against him for outraging her modesty. He was booked and arrested. After being released, he returned to his hometown. On Thursday, he left home. A missing complaint was lodged on Friday. A message sent from his cellphone got his family concerned. Some residents of the village then found his body hanging from a tree on Saturday morning.
