CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Cracking down on the rackets duping gullible youths on the pretext of getting them recruited in Indian armed forces, the army’s military intelligence (MI) at the Southern Command, along with the Ahmednagar police, has arrested an accused and unearthed yet another racket involved in duping gullible youths on the pretext of jobs in the Indian army.

The preliminary probe has revealed that the accused, in the recent past, has duped at least 10 candidates. Much to the awe and surprise of the MI as well as the police authorities, the accused was found to have targeted and duped even family members of the ex-servicemen.
The action was carried out late on Tuesday, following which an FIR against the accused, identified as Ajay Bisht, was registered at Camp police station, Bhingar.
The accused was arrested from an Ahmednagar-based market area, where he was moving around to fish for some fresh candidates and dupe them.
In a statement, the army authorities stated, ‘On specific inputs of MI, Southern Command Intelligence Battalion, Pune, on Tuesday, Bhingar police station, Ahmednagar, arrested Ajay Bisht, who has been found involved in a fraudulent recruitment racket for army and civil employment of defence for clerk and tradesman.’
The statement further stated that the accused individual allured dependents of army personnel and civil candidates, including female candidates, by claiming acquaintance with some senior army officers who are in charge of enrolling candidates for army and defence civil employees’ vacancies.

The preliminary probe has revealed that the accused has recently collected Rs 2 lakhs each from candidates hailing from Uttarakhand, Punjab, and one local youth from Ahmednagar district.
Going a step ahead, the accused, in an attempt to continue cheating the gullible candidates desperate to bag employment with the Indian army, is also found to have carried out their dummy medical examination tests at one of the hospitals in Ahmednagar district.
Ahmednagar police, led by Superintendent Rakesh Ola, maintained that the probe was underway to ascertain if the accused was actually in touch with anyone from within the armed forces, or if he was just using his knowledge about the armed forces to dupe gullible youths.
