Pilibhit: Police on Saturday filed an FIR against four persons of a family for allegedly killing an 18-year-old woman for dowry in Pania Himmat village, Pilibhit. The woman’s body was found hanging in her husband’s house. Police sent the body for autopsy and started an investigation.
Jagdish Prasad, a resident of Bareilly, stated in his complaint that his daughter, Kajal, was married to Vimal Kumar a year ago and had given sufficient dowry.

Despite this, his son-in-law and his family members were not satisfied. He alleged that they were torturing his daughter for additional dowry. Later, they killed his daughter.
SHO Umesh Solanki said, “Vimal Kumar along with his parents and elder brother are facing a case under IPC section 304 B (dowry death), 498 A (subjecting a woman to cruelty), and sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Probe is on.”
