JAIPUR/JODHPUR: A 48-year-old person, a resident of Dausa, who was critical due to tuberculosis with silicosis, diabetes and hypertension, died of Covid-19 on Thursday. Six persons tested positive in the state. While three tested positive in Jaipur, one each were reported from Dholpur, Alwar and Jodhpur.
The health department has formed a state-level team for prevention and control of Covid infection, amid a rise in cases across the country.
Shubhra Singh, additional chief secretary of medical and health department, issued an order to constitute a state-level team for Covid management, according to an official statement issued here on Friday. Singh said the team has been formed in view of the rise in the number of Covid infections in states such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. TNN
The deceased was undergoing treatment at the government-run Institute of Respiratory Diseases in Shastri Nagar, Jaipur. He was admitted to the hospital on December 19. He was earlier undergoing treatment in the hospital and was discharged on December 14. But as his condition deteriorated, he was readmitted to the hospital on December 19.
His sample was taken and his Covid test report arrived on Thursday afternoon. Within an hour of receiving the report, the patient passed away. The patient was suffering from fever, cough, shortness of breath and chest pain for the past few days. A 19-year-old student tested positive for Covid-19 in Jodhpur. She came to Jodhpur from Australia. She has been quarantined at her home in the Mahamandir area. The medical team also took samples of her 10 family members.
