JAMSHEDPUR: Officials of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) have sealed 10 under-construction floors in 10 buildings in the past 48 hours for allegedly altering with their respective approved building plans.
“The premises were sealed by a five-member flying squad which conducted raids at the locations on both Monday and Tuesday. The premises, located across Sonari, Kadma, Golmuri, Sitaramdera, Bhuyadih, were found to be extending their structures by flouting approved building plans,” JNAC special officer Sanjay Kumar told TOI on Wednesday.
Notices had been served to the owners of these buildings for flouting the Jharkhand Building Bye Laws and Municipal Act rules, he added.
“In most of the violations, fourth floor was being constructed, and in some cases fifth floor was under construction,” said city manager Ravi Bharati. Noting that the crackdown on the bye laws defaulters will continue, Bharti said the JNAC has been regularly conducting such raids upon receiving complaints.
Between April and December last year, JNAC officials sealed over 50 residential and commercial buildings for flouting building norms. Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee officials have advised the residents not to construct structures encroaching upon the land and building new floors in deviation of the approved design, as this would invite legal action.
