Nagpur: Additional sessions judge NH Jadhav on Monday convicted four kin for murder, sentencing them to life imprisonment with a fine of ₹50,000 each for murdering a relative over a property dispute at Mankapur in August 2020.
The court held Sayyed Asif Ali, Javid Khan Habib Khan, Tamij Khan Hafiz Khan, and Sadique Khan Abid Khan guilty of thrashing Sayyed Amin Ali to death with sticks, knives, and rods.
They were convicted under Section 302 of IPC and fined ₹50,000. In default, the accused are to suffer additional imprisonment of up to six months. Asif was victim Amin’s real brother, who had a tiff with him over share in ancestral property. The three others were brothers-in-law of the victim.
Additional public prosecutor Rashmi Khaparde examined 17 witnesses, including two persons who had seen the murder taking place. “The two star eyewitnesses supported the prosecution, paving the way for the conviction,” said Khaparde. She added that the court sentenced the four to life imprisonment on the grounds that such a brutal murder of a family member by their own kin over a property dispute sets a bad example in society.
