Of these, there are only two power charging stations with four points that have been constructed and are operated by the MSEDCL, said the officer. According to Pushkar Panchakshari, whose company has set up multiple charging stations in the city, "The stations thrive on the people who come to Nashik from outside, like Mumbai, Pune, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The business is picking up and the investors are coming up with new ideas to attract people towards their charging stations."
Rajesh Shah, who drove to Nashik from Mumbai said he was happy to see a wide range of charging stations and different rates available in Nashik. "I had a CNG car earlier and had to wait for hours to fill up the tank as this is available only at select petrol pumps in Nashik city. But in the case of EV stations, there is robust infrastructure here," he added.
At present, there are over 9,000 EVs in Nashik, but the business is dependent upon visitors as locals prefer to charge their vehicles through domestic arrangements where the tariff is much lower. The charging rate for consumers varies from Rs15 to Rs25 per unit depending upon the demand that the charging stations witness.
"The places that have better facilities like hotels and good restaurants have higher charging rates. It all depends on where the charging spot has been set up. For example, on weekdays charging is available at Rs15 per unit and during weekends they jump to Rs25." Rajesh Patil, another vendor who offers charging points said.
