Noida: Five students of a private university were injured on Tuesday afternoon after the car they were in rammed into a tree near Chuhadpur underpass in Greater Noida. One of the students is in critical condition while the other four are out of danger, police said.
According to police, they received a call about the incident from a passerby on the emergency helpline number around 4pm on Tuesday and officers rushed to the spot.
"A Swift Dzire was found mangled. The car had rammed into a tree along the roadside near Chuhadpur underpass. The five people who were travelling in the car were rushed to a nearby hospital," a senior police officer said.
The students were identified as Ahmed Jiya, Himanshu Kumar, Shivam Sinha, Aslam, and Sagar Vishal – all students of Galgotias University in greater Noida.
"During the investigation, it was found that the five were classmates and had left the university after completing their classes. While heading to Nimbus society in Greater Noida, their car rammed into the tree. It is suspected that the driver was speeding and lost control of the wheel, leading to the accident," the officer said.
According to doctors, Himanshu is in a critical condition while the other four are out of danger.
