Noida: In a bid to curb overloading, illegal mining, and transportation of construction materials without proper covering, Noida DM Manish Kumar Verma has written to authorities in Mahendragarh, Charkhi Dadri, and Yamunanagar of Haryana and Alwar, Hanumangarh of Rajasthan.
A majority of vehicles caught carrying illegally mined stones and without proper covering were found to have been coming from these areas.
"In the communication, we have urged the respective DMs to initiate a targeted campaign in their jurisdictions to address illegal mineral transportation and overloading of vehicles. We have also requested that they take necessary measures against the vehicles engaging in such unlawful activities, particularly those entering our region," said the DM.
"By coordinating efforts with these district authorities, we aim to curb the illegal mineral trade and ensure compliance with transportation regulations," he added.
The state govt directed the formation of a joint team, comprising the district-level task force and the transport department of GB Nagar, tasked with conducting regular inspections to check illegal mining and overloading.
A total of eight dumpers were seized after a team led by additional DM Atul Kumar conducted a surprise inspection in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida, on Aug 18.
According to officials, the vehicles with obscured registration numbers were transporting construction materials improperly, and the department levied a fine amounting to Rs 5.6 lakh on the offenders.
The authorities also suspended the driving licences and permits of all four drivers involved in the incident.
