Trichy: Trichy city police booked three more people for permitting their minor sons to operate motorcycles without possessing a valid driving licence on Friday. The action is part of a crackdown against underage driving.
The Srirangam police registered a case against a 50-year-old man from Ammamandapam Road, for allowing his 17-year-old son to ride a moped without a driving licence.

Police caught the boy near the old bus stand in Srirangam on Friday night.
Police also caught a 15-year-old boy riding a bike near the old bus stand during a vehicle inspection. Police confiscated the bike before filing a case against his 34-year-old mother for permitting her son to ride the bike without a licence.
In another incident, the Gandhi market police found a 17-year-old boy riding a bike near Prabath roundabout on Friday night. Police intercepted him and seized the bike. Preliminary investigation revealed that the bike belonged to a man from Mannachanallur, who allowed the boy to ride the bike despite the boy not possessing a valid driving licence. Friday’s crackdown is the second such instance in successive days.
