Trichy: A 38-year-old IT professional was attacked by three unidentified people and robbed of his gold chain and cash near Sathanur in KK Nagar.
S Manoj, a resident of the Airport area in Trichy, in his complaint to the KK Nagar police, stated that he works for an IT company in Chennai and had come to Trichy for a holiday.
He visited Vannankovil on the Trichy-Dindigul Road to attend a temple festival on Aug 6.
After the festival, he was returning home by a bike around 11pm. As he approached the Sathanur pond in KK Nagar area, three unidentified men on a bike followed him from behind and intercepted him. They assaulted him on his head with a wooden log, causing him to lose control. The assailants then robbed him of his 1.5 sovereign gold chain and 15,000 in cash.
The perpetrators then fled the scene. The victim managed to compose himself and sought treatment at a private hospital in Trichy for injuries sustained on his head and right eyebrow.
The KK Nagar police registered a case on Friday.
