Elderly couple commits suicide

Udaipur: An elderly couple in Udaipur ended their lives by hanging in their house in Lakadwas area of Pratap Nagar police station area on Sunday night.
According to Omkar Lal, ASI Pratap Nagar police station, the deceased Raghu Das Vaishnav (65) and his wife Mangi Bai (62), were upset due to their illness for past several years. Their mental condition too was deteriorating.They ended their lives by hanging themselves with a rope in their room on Sunday night. They had also wrapped Bhagwat Gita in a cloth and hung it around their necks.
Police said that the couple had gone to sleep after dinner on Sunday night. The incident came to light when their daughter-in-law took the morning tea to their room on the first floor on Monday. On getting no response from the couple, the woman called her husband. He peeped inside from a hole in the door and was shocked to find the two hanging from the ceiling. He raised an alarm and the neighbours gathered there; they also informed the police.
Primarily, based on the evidence, and conditions, it is said to be a case of suicide. However, the police are considering other angles too. TNN

A couple in a live-in relationship, Rajendra Yadav and Sharda Devi, were found dead with bullet wounds. Rajendra, who was visually challenged, had been living with Sharda since 2015. Sharda wanted Rajendra's land to be transferred to her name, which led to a property dispute. The bodies were discovered 5 km away from their home, with three empty cartridges found at the scene. The woman had two bullet wounds on her chin, while Rajendra had one on his head.

Police help 10k elderly devotees visit Puri shrine
Police facilitated darshan for elderly devotees and specially abled pilgrims in Puri Jagannath Temple. Bollywood actor Anupam Kher praised the police for their compassionate assistance. A help desk, shelters, and chairs were set up outside the temple. The district administration made arrangements for hassle-free darshan during the holy Panchuk. Daily rituals and encroachments on the Grand Road were managed to allow more space for devotees.
