Udaipur: An elderly couple in Udaipur ended their lives by hanging in their house in Lakadwas area of Pratap Nagar police station area on Sunday night.
According to Omkar Lal, ASI Pratap Nagar police station, the deceased Raghu Das Vaishnav (65) and his wife Mangi Bai (62), were upset due to their illness for past several years. Their mental condition too was deteriorating.
They ended their lives by hanging themselves with a rope in their room on Sunday night. They had also wrapped Bhagwat Gita in a cloth and hung it around their necks.
Police said that the couple had gone to sleep after dinner on Sunday night. The incident came to light when their daughter-in-law took the morning tea to their room on the first floor on Monday. On getting no response from the couple, the woman called her husband. He peeped inside from a hole in the door and was shocked to find the two hanging from the ceiling. He raised an alarm and the neighbours gathered there; they also informed the police.
Primarily, based on the evidence, and conditions, it is said to be a case of suicide. However, the police are considering other angles too. TNN
