Vijayawada: A lineman identified as Vajrala Koteshwara Rao, who was engaged in power restoration works, was found dead near Ajith Singh Nagar on Tuesday after he got washed away in the flood waters.
Several neighbourhoods in Vijayawada experienced power outages due to heavy rainfall and floods, prompting an intensified effort to restore electricity as floodwaters began to subside on Tuesday.

Amidst these restoration efforts, Rao, who was participating in the relief operations in Vijayawada, was swept away by the floodwaters. Energy minister Gottipati Ravikumar, upon learning of the lineman's untimely demise, reached out to the lineman's family to convey his condolences and assured them of all help from the state govt.
The unexpected floods that led to power outages in Vijayawada over the past three days have had a profound impact on numerous lives. The untimely rainfall has affected approximately over 50,000 individuals. West of Vijayawada experienced its most significant rainfall in the past five decades. In response to this crisis, the govt has already commenced extensive relief and rescue operations to aid those affected by the floods.
The relentless rains and floods in Andhra Pradesh till Tuesday have claimed the lives of 20 individuals, while two others remain unaccounted for. The devastating weather conditions have also resulted in the loss of over 200 cattle and 59,700 poultry birds. Vast areas of agricultural land have been inundated, leading to significant damage to crops and the livelihoods of farmers.
