Vijayawada: In a remarkable display of resilience and hope, a woman in flood-hit area of Ajit Singh Nagar in Vijayawada gave birth to a child.
The delivery took place in a house situated in the Dhabakotlu Centre of Ajit Singh Nagar, where floodwaters reached alarming levels.
The mother and her newborn were surrounded by water, with no immediate access to medical facilities or safe shelter.
In a race against time, NTR district police commissioner Rajasekhar Babu took it upon himself to ensure their safety. Navigating through the treacherous floodwaters in a boat, the commissioner personally led the rescue operation, a move that has since garnered widespread praise from the community after photos of the incident went viral on social media. Upon reaching the mother and her child, the commissioner safely relocated them to a secure location, where they could receive necessary care and attention.
In a separate incident, due to the high water levels in Ajit Singh Nagar, the residents, with limited resources and a deep sense of protectiveness, carried an infant in a box while navigating the submerged streets.
