Dev is bringing his ‘action hero’ avatar back in his upcoming film ‘Khadaan’. The actor-politician, who is one of the superstars in the Bengali entertainment industry, is promising to pack this Christmas with high-end action with ‘Khadaan’. The teaser of the film is out now.

However, Dev’s rogue avatar, complimented by a messy hair-do reminds the audience of southern megastar Yash from ‘KGF’. The 78-second long teaser opens with a blast at a coal mine, followed by a hero-like entry by Dev’s character, who wreaks havoc with an axe in his hand, and a cigarette held between his lips. Dev’s entry is amped up with a monologue, “I’m busy with my family; so what did you think? I’ve forgotten action?” Dev’s fiery rogue avatar with an axe in his hand takes us back to Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay from ‘Animal’.

Apart from Dev, Jisshu U Sengupta also makes an appearance in the teaser and is seen in a Vaishnab avatar with a ‘Khol’, leaving the audience intrigued for more.
Unveiling the teaser, Dev wrote on social media, “The biggest Bengali film is arriving in cinemas this Christmas. An epic journey of friendship begins. Get ready to dive deep into the world of ‘Khadaan’ where power, greed, and vengeance collide.”
Produced by Dev Entertainment Ventures and presented by Surinder Films, Khadaan will mark Dev’s return to the action genre after a series of family dramas. Joining Dev as the female lead of this coal-mine saga will be television actress Idhika Pal. Jisshu U Sengupta will be seen in a pivotal role in the film.

On Wednesday, Dev had shared a video on social media where filmmaker Srijit Mukherji showered praises on the teaser for Khadaan and said, “If we wish to bring back the old flavour of Bengali mainstream action movies, it would be through films like Khadaan. I am definitely watching it on the first day, first show.”
While ‘Khadaan’ is slated to have a theatrical release during Christmas this year, Dev-starrer Tekka will be releasing in theatres during Durga Puja. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film also features Rukmini Maitra and Swastika Mukherjee.
Dev’s last release was Avijit Sen’s ‘Pradhan’, which arrived in theatres in December 2023.
Directed by Soojit Dutta, ‘Khadaan’ will hit cinemas on December 20.
