A paralympic sporting event organised to honour women with disability
Ahead of International Women's Day, Kolhapur District Paralympic Sports Association conducted a district-level selection tournament and state-level swimming competition for disabled women of Kolhapur. Organised by Kolhapur Municipal Corporation commissioner Dr Mallinath Kalshetti to honour women with disabilities, the event took place at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Complex recently organised in Gondia. The competition saw more than six differently-abled women participating in various sports activities like running, throwing, plate throw, spear throw, long jump.

At the event, Vikas Chougule, vice-president of the association, secretary Vianayak Sutar, Suresh Dhare, Umesh Chatke, Prashant Mhathar, Vasinath Kesarkar, Vishnupant Patil, Ajit Kadam, Ujwala Chavan, Janaki Mokashi, players, their parents, and sports enthusiasts were also present.
The association chaired by Devdutt Mane along with test coach Rajendra Bansode and Anil Powar, announced that a separate gym for differently-abled women will be opened in the city.
