When Deepika Padukone admitted it was ‘very difficult’ to break up with Ranbir Kapoor: 'I don’t think I made the effort to have my own life'

Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, who dated for around two years, parted ways in 2009. Both the actors have moved on in their own lives quite some time ago. While Ranbir Kapoor is happily married to Alia Bhatt, Deepika tied the knot with Ranveer Singh a few years back.
Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently enjoying his married life and fatherhood, has always been in the news for his romantic life in the past.Ranbir’s past relationships with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif led to media attention and labels like ‘Casanova’ and ‘Cheater’.
In an old episode of ‘Koffee With Karan’, Deepika talked about her breakup from Ranbir. When Karan questioned Deepika if her breakup with Ranbir was “tough” for her. To which, DP replied, “It was very, very difficult for me because somewhere that relationship became my world,” Deepika told Karan. “I was new to the city and his friends became my friends and that life became my life. I don’t think I made the effort to have my own life. That relationship really taught me a lot when it ended. It’s made me a better person today. He says it himself.”
Neetu Kapoor had once discussed the breakup between Ranbir and Deepika on Simi Garewal's chat show ‘India's Most Desirable’ during the ‘Meet the Parent’ segment. According to her, Ranbir wasn't acting like himself in that relationship.
The veteran actress shared, “I don’t think he’s had many girlfriends. He’s had just one girlfriend and that’s Deepika. I think maybe there was something missing in their relationship. There was something not there. Maybe he was not himself and he needed to break off. Everybody has relationships and they move on. If their relationship was perfect, they wouldn’t have broken up. Ranbir was probably not himself in the relationship.”
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor will be next seen in ‘Love & War’ which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Apart from this, he also has ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Animal Park’ in the pipeline. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s film ‘Singham Again’, which also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar and several other big names of the industry.
