"I Heard The Entire Show Just Got Ripped In Half": WWE Superstar Reflects On His Frustrations With Last-Minute Script Changes During Vince McMahon's Tenure

The frequent last-minute changes to WWE programming, once a staple of the company's operations, have become relatively rare following the departure of former Chairman Vince McMahon. However, despite this shift, pro wrestling veterans continue to vividly recall the significant challenges these abrupt changes presented.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Nic Nemeth shared his experiences from his time in WWE, specifically highlighting the frustrations he faced with last-minute script modifications.Nemeth elaborated on how such unpredictability often left wrestlers in a state of uncertainty about their roles and the night’s agenda. It was not uncommon for the wrestlers to overhear discussions about the evening's plans, only to be met with dramatic changes. Nemeth illustrated this by describing how entire shows could be rewritten with very little notice, creating a chaotic environment where talent had to adapt quickly to the new circumstances.

“You’d hear [people wondering] ‘What are we doing tonight?’” Nemeth recounted, emphasizing the bewildering nature of the situation. “‘Well, I heard [the] entire show just got ripped in half at 5:45.’” This level of unpredictability was a constant challenge for the wrestlers, who had to navigate through the evolving landscape of the show on the fly.
Nic Nemeth compared this experience to the process of assembling a WWE Main Event card, which would be hastily put together to fill out the remainder of the show. This last-minute reorganization placed a considerable burden on the wrestlers, who were tasked with making the most of whatever they were given. Despite the disorganization, the wrestlers were expected to deliver compelling performances and maintain audience engagement.

To illustrate his point, Nemeth recounted his feuds with Matt Cardona, known at the time as Zack Ryder. On weeks when their segments were omitted from RAW, Nemeth and Cardona took initiative by creating promotional videos for Cardona’s YouTube channel. “We couldn’t even make ‘Raw’ [some weeks], so we would make a video and put it on [Cardona’s] YouTube. I would use my selling [to make] it seem like there was more invested in the match,” Nemeth said. This creative approach was aimed at generating fan interest and presenting their feud as a significant storyline, despite the lack of mainstream television exposure.
Nemeth has also addressed the possibility of returning to WWE as part of TNA’s collaboration. Although the prospect of his return remains uncertain, Nemeth is keenly aware of the evolving nature of WWE and how the landscape has changed since his previous tenure.
