Agartala: A day after
BJP swept the Lok Sabha election results for the two seats in Tripura, the saffron party’s ally in the state, Tipra Motha Party chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Thursday asked party workers and supporters to get ready to fight for their core demand for the empowerment of ‘Tiprasa’ (indigenous people of Tripura) for which it said an agreement was already signed with the Centre and the state.
The party has been making a core demand to form a new state called ‘Greater Tipraland’ under Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution. Interestingly, Debbarman’s sister Kriti Devi Debbarman, won the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency on a BJP ticket. The other seat (Tripura West) was won by BJP’s former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
Speaking to his party men, Pradyot urged his workers and supporters to continue their fight without violence till their demands were met. He said the core demand was made to save and empower the Tiprasa, who have become a minority in their own state.
