Centre, Tripura govt sign peace pact with 2 rebel grps
Agartala: A peace agreement was signed between the Centre, Tripura govt and two insurgent groups of the state here on Wednesday in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah to end violence and bring peace in the northeastern state.
Altogether 328 cadres from the banned outfits National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) have permanently renounced armed struggle and joined the mainstream by signing the “Memorandum of Settlement”.

The peace accord signing ceremony, chaired by Shah, marked the end of a 35-year-long insurgency in Tripura.
The ceremony was attended by a 10-member delegation from NLFT and ATTF, with Biswa Mohan Debbarma, chief of NLFT (BM) faction, and its vice-president Upendra Reang, signing on behalf of NLFT, while Alindra Reang was the key signatory for ATTF. Upendra expressed hope that the govt would fulfill its promises, especially the financial package, and continue addressing the issues faced by tribals.
