Ajmer: The municipal corporation here has been conducting a drive against selling of raw meat in the open for the past four days, during which the corporation has slammed penalties on 105 shops. The corporation has also warned meat sellers to not throw waste on the road and take care that no blood spills out from their shops. Shopkeepers have been directed to not keep the meat in the open.
“We have asked the shopkeepers to take licenses for selling raw meat and also to follow guidelines to keep the space clean,” said an official of the corporation.
In Ajmer, the Kawandarspura area is the main market for raw chicken, mutton, and fish. “It is usually seen that shopkeepers carry the chickens on a scooter or in a tempo to their shops and that spreads feathers all around the market,” said a complaint to the corporation.
Besides Kanwandarspura, there are mutton shops on Beawar road, Nasirabad road, Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur road, and in some small colonies of the city.
The bakara mandi is situated on Beawar road and a team of officials also visited this place and directed shopkeepers to maintain norms and imposed penalties on those who were running shops without licenses.
