Rs 7 crore seized after van-lorry accident in AP's East Godavari

In East Godavari, a van-lorry accident uncovered hidden cash. SDPO, Kovvur, MPDO, Nallajerla, FST, IT Nodal officer involved in handling the situation. The drivers from Pasalapudi and Rajahmundry transported the money.

Rajahmundry: In a dramatic incident that took place in East Godavari district on Saturday, the police have seized Rs 7 crore which was being transported without valid papers as the van collided with a lorry accidentally.
The cash was found in seven boxes stuffed in seven boxes.
According to East Godavari SP P Jagadeesh, two drivers namely Kalidindi Veera Bhadra Rao belong to Pasalapudi Village of Ramachandrapuram Mandal, Dr.

B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema district and Karri Prasad belong to Rajahmundry are coming from Vijayawada to Rajahmundry in a Tata Dost Van on National Highway along with chemical powder bags. When they reached near Ananthapalli Village, an unknown lorry collided with the van from the rear side and the driver of the vehicle lost his control and hit the railing and the van turned turtle.
Some passersby immediately intimated the accident to the Road Safety Vehicle who is present at the Toll-Plaza, Veeravalli village. The In-charge of Road safety ASI along with the Road safety vehicle driver rushed to the spot within five minutes and the said police personnel found damaged carton boxes in a suspicious manner and questioned the driver, but the driver refused to give a proper answer. Then the In charge Road safety ASI spoke to the second driver and confirmed that the carton boxes contained some cash.
Immediately, ASI informed the same to SHO, Nallajerla. Then SH0, Nallajerla rushed to the spot and confirmed that the said van was carrying some cash in seven carton boxes duly hiding in the chemical powder bags.
SHO, Nallajerla informed the same to SDPO, Kovvur, FST, IT Nodal officer and shifted the injured driver K.Veera Bhadra Rao to Govt. Hospital, Gopalapuram. SHO, Nallajerla has videographed the entire scene till the arrival of the concerned officials.

After arrival of concerned officials, seven boxes were shifted to toll-plaza, Veeravalli and counted the cash in the presence of tahsildhar and MPDO, Nallajerla, FST and seized an amount of seven crore of cash, which was transporting from Vijayawada to Rajahmundry without any valid documents.
Police are interrogating the drivers for source and destination of the seized cash, some more information and technical information also awaited to finalize the issue.
